Elixir is now in Italian!

Or, Have Any Italian Friends Who Like Apocalypse Fiction?

I’m thrilled to announce Elixir (Red Plague #1) has been translated into Italian! Over the summer I was lucky to work with Yassine Riahi at BabelCube.com to translate the first novel in my Red Plague series. You can download the ebook from Barnes & Noble here.

If you know anyone who reads Italian, I would really appreciate you mentioning my new translation. Thank you in advance.

Back cover blurb:

The red plague has devastated the human race, turning billions of people into zombies with red eyes and an insatiable hunger for human flesh.

The 212R virus sweeps through the population so quickly a possible cure is left to rot. Seventeen-year-old Maya Solomon may be the only survivor who knows where it is. But to reach the lab in Raleigh, North Carolina she will have to outrun the infected boy tracking her every step and cross into a city swarming with monsters.

Remedy (Red Plague Series) Alternate Endings

Remedy (Red Plague Series) Alternate Endings

Or, Really Fun Ideas That Make Little Sense
Remedy Cover 1800x2700

It was so fun to write Remedy. I had dozens of dramatic scenes bouncing around my head, but these two alternate endings just didn’t fit into the final plot or fit with the characters.

At one point early on in writing the book I imagined that after Callie witnessed Levi nearly murder Roman she would run away, back to her island paradise. I loved the idea of Roman following her into the unknown. I adored their reunion in the splashing surf.

But the more I thought about it, the less I liked Callie abandoning Roman. The poor guy had been left behind by everyone he’d ever cared about. If Callie truly loved him, she wouldn’t leave him.

So, I re-wrote the end. Callie still left, but had a change of heart and returned to share a romantic reunion at the wall around the heart of Washington DC.

But it still bothered me that Callie abandoned Roman. So, though their meeting at the wall was terribly dramatic, I had to start from scratch.

I won’t spoil the final ending in the published version, but if you’ve read Remedy, I hope you enjoy seeing how things might have ended up differently for Callie and Roman.

Exciting Plans For 2016

Exciting Plans For 2016

Or, The Manuscripts I Can’t Wait To Share

2016, A Bright New Year

Trilogy1800x2700

Since last fall, I’ve been working on a new story in my Red Plague series. The original trilogy is complete, but I couldn’t stop thinking about this world and these characters. I have written, and am now editing and revising a new novel with new characters set in the Red Plague world.

Blurb:

Ex-wrestler Callie Crawford wants to protect her infected boyfriend, Levi. She’s kept him safe from others and himself for four months, but then a zombie steps in front of her vehicle and she’s cut off from Levi. When computer nerd Roman Duran admits he has a cure for the 212R virus, Callie will venture into the wilds of apocalyptic North Carolina to heal her boyfriend. Along the way, she realizes Levi isn’t the man she remembers and Roman might be more than he seems.

Look for updates in the next few months. The next story in the Red Plague series will be out this summer.

Also on my plate is a new series tentatively titled The Prophecy Series. Once the Red Plague Series concludes, I have an idea for a new paranormal series set in the American Southwest.

Blurb:

Powerful witches and sexy shifters fight an evil horde of vampires led by Oleksander the Destroyer.

Connor, a damaged vampire hunter with a cursed future, and Alina, a newly orphaned young woman with a terrible secret, will unite with a common goal–kill the horde.

1st Week NaNoWriMo Update

1st Week NaNoWriMo Update

Or, How I Slacked Off A Lot

NaNoWriMo pic

This first week of NaNoWriMo was tough for me. I started a new job recently, and I’m still exhausted from that so I didn’t have a lot of time to write. I did force myself to get up every morning at 5 am (boo!) and write for a solid 30 minutes before I had to get ready for work. That way, at least my daily totals weren’t zero.

Saturday I had my best day yet. With a lot of downtime I was able to crank out about 4,000 words. I was so happy! …Until I realized even with that burst I’m still behind.

How are your NaNo journeys coming along?

Tuesday Tease #11

Tuesday Tease #11

Or, An Excerpt From My Upcoming Novel Elixir

“I’ll look out for zombies.” Showing off, Hunny sprang onto the hood of a white Nissan and leap-frogged three cars ahead, scrambling over roofs and sliding down windshields.

“Keep the noise down,” I warned. Reds were attracted by sound.
