Staff at a former theatre in North Wales are scared to be left alone in the spooky old building following a series of ghostly incidents.<\/p>\n
Bosses at the Tivoli Venue in Flintshire decided to call in the paranormal experts behind popular TV series Most Haunted<\/em> to shed some light on the eerie goings on.<\/p>\n Manager Leighton Openshaw, who has been working at the venue for five years, said: \u201cWhen I first started working here, I had a glass thrown at me.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was no one else here, but it was like someone or something picked the glass off the floor and hurled it across the room at me.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought someone was playing a joke, but everyone was downstairs \u2013 it was really creepy. I couldn\u2019t wait to finish my shift and get out.\u201d<\/p>\n The Tivoli opened as a theatre in 1925 and has since been transformed into a cinema and, most recently, a live music venue.<\/p>\n According to local legends, the building is haunted by the ghost of a projectionist who died in a fire in the 1940s.<\/p>\n \u201cOne night, I was looking at one of our CCTV cameras and I saw a person hanging from the ceiling of a room upstairs,\u201d recalled Leighton.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought my eyes were playing up, so I called some of my colleagues over and about six of us all saw it.<\/p>\n \u201cWe went to investigate, but there was nothing there. When we came back down, the image had disappeared from the monitor \u2013 it was quite sinister.\u201d<\/p>\n Staff believe there are at least half a dozen ghosts haunting the 90-year-old building \u2013 some good, some playful and some malign.<\/p>\n \u201cStuff happens here that we have no way of explaining,\u201d said the manager.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s been a lot of weird stuff going on. We know the building is haunted and that\u2019s why we decided to get in touch with the guys at Most Haunted<\/em>, so they could come and investigate.\u201d<\/p>\n The film crew visited the building on Brunswick Road in Buckley last month and spent a full day filming, staying late into the night in the hope of catching any paranormal activity on camera.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of spooky stuff happened while they were here, but we\u2019re not allowed to say what,” said Leighton.<\/p>\n \u201cSome of the staff think we\u2019ve annoyed the spirits by letting the cameras in,\u201d explained the 32-year-old manager.<\/p>\n \u201cGhost hunters in the past have suggested there are good spirits and bad spirits here. They say the good spirits are protecting us from the bad ones.\u201d<\/p>\n Some staff members have now admitted they are now too scared to be in the building alone.<\/p>\n \u201cSince the film crew left, it\u2019s woken up a few things we didn\u2019t actually know about,\u201d said Leighton.<\/p>\n \u201cA few people have reported hearing footsteps downstairs while they\u2019re working. One night, they were so scared, they ran out of the building.<\/p>\n \u201cA lot of people get a shivery feeling in here too. I\u2019ve had it myself \u2013 it\u2019s like a cold tingling all down your spine.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s really weird and hard to explain, but we\u2019re convinced it\u2019s the projectionist who lives here. It\u2019s the stuff of nightmares.<\/p>\n \u201cUp until the film crew came, I\u2019ve never been scared here, but I\u2019d never work alone now.
